About the Position

TCU seeks an outstanding leader to serve as its next Dean of the Mary Couts Burnett Library. Reporting to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Dean will lead the Library's services and programs, focusing on enhancing research, community engaged scholarship, and educational excellence. The Dean will also promote the Library's goals and foster partnerships both locally and globally.

Responsibilities

  • Build upon the established success of the Library and guide its future growth and development.
  • Provide strategic vision and operational leadership to Library services and programs.
  • Advocate for and promote the Library's mission of excellence in scholarship and service.
  • Support TCU's research mission by advancing faculty scholarly activities and fostering interdisciplinary opportunities.
  • Inspire the Library's staff and promote a culture of professionalism and care.
  • Promote innovative ideas and solidify partnerships within TCU, nationally, and internationally.
  • Lead development and fundraising activities for the Library.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree in Library Science or a related field.
  • Proven leadership experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in managing budgets and overseeing operations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in library management.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a higher education setting.
  • Understanding of library science principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of library technology and digital resources.
  • Ability to manage a diverse workforce.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans.
