About the role
This position provides educational and student development leadership for the Tribal School under the administrative direction of the Muckleshoot Tribal School Principal. Duties include planning, organizing, and evaluating programs and services, promoting communication, assisting students in establishing high standards of conduct, improving student attendance and discipline, developing and implementing intervention programs, and creating a positive school environment.
Responsibilities
- Assists students in establishing high standards of conduct
- Affirmatively addresses the improvement of student attendance and discipline
- Aid in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs addressing the needs of students
- Create a positive school environment conducive to teaching and learning
- Provide a variety of administrative duties to assist school leadership in managing the school
- Provide guidance to students; encourage, motivate, coach, correct, redirect, and discipline students if necessary
- Communicate and confer with parents to promote student success, learning, and development of appropriate behaviors
- Communicate with outside agencies concerning children as necessary
- Administer student records; ensure evaluation of each student’s educational growth and development; provide periodic reports to parents, school, and Tribal leadership
- Fairly and equitably administer the school discipline policies and procedures and provide campus supervision throughout the day
- Serve as a resource to staff in dealing with effective instruction, classroom management issues, and student discipline
- Assess campus safety, student emergency health and safety needs, and ensure appropriate action
- Investigate student, parent, and staff complaints and grievances, which may include properly interviewing witnesses in disciplinary investigations
Requirements
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Education. Washington State Teaching certificate. Preferred: Three (3) or more years of related experience as a classroom teacher. Washington State Principal Certification and/or School Counseling or enrollment in a certification program.
