Main Job Tasks And Responsibilities
- Perform Administrative Duties assigned by the School Principal
- Work with the School Principal to develop action plans to support the implementation of the School Improvement Plan
- Afford support to the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and non-academic purposes by providing assistance for the safe arrival and departure of students, maintaining a healthy school environment and attending and supervising school-sponsored activities to include co-curricular and athletic activities
- Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and effectively implement the School Board’s Student Code of Conduct
- Afford support to the planning and supervision of the emergency preparedness program, including fire drills, according to state law and division regulations
- Afford support to the completion of inventories of all property and for the security, accountability, and distribution of that property, e.g., textbooks, computer technology, lockers, etc.
- Support school-based programs and initiatives to include but not limited to: testing, restorative practices, departmental oversight, community engagement, and attendance
- Participate in recruitment, interview, and selection of staff hiring under supervision of the School Principal
- Effectively perform other administrative duties within the building as provided by directives from the School Principal
Provide instructional leadership to students and staff
- Serve as an instructional leader of the building staff under the direction of the School Principal to improve student achievement
- Monitor lesson plans to ensure that they reflect the district pacing calendars
- Regularly observe teachers, provide specific feedback about their performance and give suggestions for continuous improvement
- Promote and communicate high expectations of students and staff performance in an enabling, supportive manner and provide appropriate recognition
- Encourage staff to work collaboratively to improve instruction and to use test data to improve continues student performance
Respond promptly and thoroughly to written and oral requests for information
Maintain a clean, neat appearance, appropriate to position.
Maintain a record of appropriate attendance and punctuality.
Serve as a role model for students, colleagues, and the general public.
Work in close harmony with colleagues, supervisors, and co-workers.
Comply with all District and School policies and regulations
Perform other related duties as required/assigned.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related content area required; Master’s degree preferred
- Professional License issued by the Virginia Board of Education, or eligibility for same, required; endorsement in a subject relevant to the grade level to be supported strongly preferred
- Endorsement in Administration and Supervision, or current enrollment in a program leading to such an endorsement, strongly preferred
- Three or more years of successful full-time experience as a teacher, supervisor, or administrator in a PK-12 school

- Knowledge Leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents
- Classroom management strategies appropriate to the learning situation
- Effective public relations skills
- Assessment of individual needs and performance
- Relationship management with parents and other community representatives
Physical Requirements
- Work environment is primarily inside, with moderate noise, temperatures that are controlled, and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements
- The work is moderate work, requiring exertion of up to 30 pounds of force to move or lift objects
