About the role

The University of California, Berkeley School of Information seeks an innovative leader to serve as the Dean. The successful candidate will build on the school's successes, increase student enrollment, recruit a more diverse faculty and staff, and strengthen the school's finances through fundraising and diversifying revenue streams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the School of Information's academic programs and research initiatives.
• Increase student enrollment and attract a more diverse student body.
• Recruit and retain a diverse and talented faculty and staff.
• Strengthen the School's financial position through fundraising and diversifying revenue streams.
• Build and maintain relationships with industry partners and stakeholders to advance the School's mission.
• Ensure the School of Information remains at the forefront of innovation in the field of information sciences.

Requirements

• A PhD in Library and Information Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proven leadership experience in higher education or a similar setting.
• Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans.
• Strong record of attracting and retaining a diverse and talented faculty and staff.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice (DEIBJ).
• Experience in fundraising and diversifying revenue streams.
• Knowledge of current trends and issues in information sciences.
• Experience in building and maintaining relationships with industry partners and stakeholders.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The Dean will be expected to work full-time, with occasional evening and weekend availability as needed.
