Vermont Disability Determination Services (VT DDS) has a great opportunity for physicians (M.D. or D.O.) who want to expand and extend their medical expertise by performing administrative medical reviews of disability applications in a collaborative team environment. This part-time, consulting role uses your medical knowledge to support timely, accurate, and fair disability decisions for Vermonters—with no direct patient care responsibilities.

About the role

As a Medical Consultant, you will review disability applications, analyze large volumes of medical records, and adapt to evolving software used in the DDS case processing system. Program training and support are provided, and once fully trained, telework is available.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt to software applications used in the DDS case processing system

Requirements

  • Current Vermont medical license (M.D. or D.O.) in good standing
  • Experience as a general or family practitioner or cardiologist is helpful
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

About our Division

Disability Determination Services determines medical eligibility for applicants filing for disability benefits under the Social Security Disability Program, the Supplemental Security Income Program, and Medicaid disability. For more details, visit http://dcf.vermont.gov/dds.

Pay

$93.62/hr. to $111.71/hr. New hires are typically made at the minimum of the salary range.
