About the role
The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is seeking motivated and professional individuals to join their team as Special Agents I and II. The DCI has a long history of serving the state through investigative work and is committed to providing training and support to its agents.
Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations independently or in conjunction with municipal, county, or other law enforcement personnel to gather all necessary evidence to ensure the apprehension and conviction of suspected felons.
- Travel and work irregular hours as needed.
Requirements
- Must be willing to travel and work irregular hours.
- Must be a certified law enforcement officer (if applying for Special Agent II).
- Full-time 40-hour per week position.
Qualifications
- Completed bachelor's degree or equivalent law enforcement experience.
- No felony convictions.
- At least 21 years old at time of appointment.
- A valid South Dakota driver's license.
- Ability to meet all minimum standards for law enforcement officer employment and certification.

- Communicate clearly and concisely.
- Prepare complete and accurate case reports.

Pay
- $33.48 to $37.09 hourly, depending on qualifications.
- Pay grade 05 – 06.
Schedule
