About the role

The DC Power group, a part of the accelerator engineering systems department, at Jefferson Lab is seeking an individual who will work on installing, repairing, constructing, and maintaining high precision regulated DC current sources for accelerator electromagnets. The incumbent should have extensive electronic experience especially repairing and troubleshooting Low and High Voltage Power supplies and associated sub systems. This position requires periods of on-call support and occasional shift work.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair AC-to-DC and DC-to-DC power conversion hardware and equipment.
  • Conduct electrical work on equipment with voltages up to 2kilo-Volts and up to 5kilo-Amperes in accordance with established safety standards.
  • Write fabrication and testing procedures.
  • Perform test setups on medium & high voltage power supplies.
  • Ensure systems are operating at peak efficiency with minimum interruptions by performing optimization, analysis, periodic testing, and corrective procedures.

Requirements

  • Required: 5 or more years relevant experience
  • Required: Experience making wire harness, fabricating chassis and some machine work.
  • Required: Experience soldering wires and electronic components.
  • PREFERRED: Experience in using test equipment such as oscilloscope, function generator, multi-meters and electrical measurements.

Qualifications

  • Required: High School Diploma
  • PREFERRED: Associate's Degree Or equivalent military training

Skills

  • Demonstrates an understanding of analog and digital electronic principles such as electrical circuit theory.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, diagrams and rudimentary mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to complete required training such as: Qualified Electrical/Electronic Worker, Lockout/Tagout, Radiation Worker I and Oxygen Deficiency Hazards Training.
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to clearly present technical information to varying levels of staff including higher level management.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of electronics and supporting theory.

Pay

The good-faith pay range for this role is $58,200 - $83,500 per year. Actual compensation may vary and may be above the posted range based on factors such as a candidate's skills, experience, education, certifications, and work location.

Schedule

This position requires periods of on-call support and occasional shift work.
