DC Planner, Routing
About the Role

The Routing Planner ensures every delivery from a customer's purchase order is delivered on time according to exact specifications. This includes shipment expedites, re-routes, returns, track and trace, and providing customer service support to Account Managers, Finance, and Customers related to transportation, brokerage, customs, and logistics. The role also involves administrative support for the compliance department by researching operational causes of shipment issues, failures, and delays, particularly those resulting in chargebacks or customer complaints.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily transportation planning of shipments and interface with DC Operations to schedule and plan outbound shipments.
- Perform shipping execution support duties, including interacting with carriers and drivers as necessary.
- Provide support to the import/export clerk as required.
- Offer customer service support to account teams, internal departments, and customers for service requests, issues, freight rate quotes, and inquiries.
- Monitor daily deliveries routed PRT (outside continental US) or RRG (call for routing) for non-default shipping accounts, determine correct routing, and revise deliveries in WM.
- Ensure assigned account customer routing guides are up-to-date and compliant with customer instructions to avoid chargebacks.
- Assist customers with tracking, tracing, retrieving delivery receipts, and troubleshooting delivery issues.
- Support the receiving department regarding inbound shipments and communicate with vendors, carriers, procurement, and receiving departments.
- Complete manual billing by the end of each day and correct manifest exceptions daily.
- Review, investigate, and assist in resolving chargebacks related to assigned accounts, providing supporting documentation for recovery/resolution.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, ethics, and values, and comply with federal, state, and local laws.
Requirements
- Able to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines and department results.
- Knowledgeable in SAP and WMS.
- Understanding of strategies to protect people and data.
- Familiarity with customer service principles, including needs assessments and quality standards.
- Skilled in managing administrative and clerical procedures, such as file management and office procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop and implement solutions.
- Must be able to see, hear, speak, and write clearly for effective communication with employees and customers.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to multi-task under pressure.
- Manual dexterity: ability to use hands for typing, handling, and feeling; reach with hands and arms.
- Vision abilities: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb ladders, and lift up to 20 pounds without assistance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Logistics, transportation planning, or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
- 1-2 years of logistics experience required.
- 2-3 years of experience in client account management preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SAP.
