Responsibilities

  • Receive, fill, and ship products accurately and efficiently, ensuring all products are readily available and necessary paperwork is completed.
  • Perform various warehouse functions, including receiving, order fulfillment, product picking, wrapping and packing, stock replenishment, customer will call, and inventory cycle counts.
  • Operate power equipment (e.g., electric pallet jack, walkie rider, sit-down forklift) safely to locate, put away, stack, and move products to correct storage locations daily. Tasks include stocking, filling bin boxes, facing cartons, checking for product mixing, and rotating product.
  • Receive product by unloading trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or by hand. Inspect freight for damage, verify quantities, check shipments against packing lists, and complete necessary paperwork for discrepancies or reimbursements.
  • Ensure all products have verified bar code labels and readable Johnstone stock numbers by scanning products, printing labels, resolving discrepancies, and completing required paperwork.
  • Fill orders by picking products, packing items into cartons, stacking to minimize shipping damage, entering items into a scan gun, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Document the shipment of hazardous materials by labeling cartons correctly and completing required paperwork.
  • Prepare orders for shipment by palletizing, wrapping, loading trucks, and placing packing lists in the last skid. Complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Maintain accuracy and efficiency standards by following all standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in inventory cycle counts and related projects as assigned.
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of warehouse machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following safety rules, wearing protective equipment, and reporting concerns promptly. Access Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as needed.
  • Maintain required certifications, including hazardous materials and forklift certifications.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with customers and coworkers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support company success.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; 1+ years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and competently.
  • Forklift certification required; willingness to obtain on the job if not already certified.
  • Ability to read, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Skill in operating power equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and cherry pickers.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver large/heavy products or equipment, including lifting up to 50 pounds and more with mechanical or team assistance.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems and order picking processes.
  • Ability to follow instructions, organize and prioritize work, and attend to details.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment and complete routine paperwork.
  • Proficiency in using necessary technology, such as RF equipment and ERP software.
  • English proficiency (written and spoken) is required for safety and communication purposes.

Preferred qualifications include experience with inventory management systems, knowledge of the HVAC wholesale industry, and previous experience with OSHA and safety regulations.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk on a concrete floor for much of the workday.
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds; lift heavier weights with mechanical or team assistance.
  • For driving duties (if applicable), ability to sit for long periods and tolerate bouncing and vibration.
  • Frequent communication (talking or hearing) required.
  • Special vision requirements include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and color vision.
