Responsibilities

• Lead project teams of discipline leads to deliver quality and globally consistent data center designs while maintaining a high level of quality within budget and schedule.
• Influence internal stakeholders, internal customers (operations), and external consultants to address program-wide design changes.
• Manage escalations and identify multi-disciplinary design decisions.
• Understand design development, design change management, permitting (working with Authorities Having Jurisdiction), and implementation (working with construction managers, RFIs, submittals) lifecycle.
• Apply project management skills: critical path schedule management, risk management, quality management, cost management.
• Manage design consultants including procurement, contracting, deliverable management, and payments.
• Communicate effectively and consistently with AWS leadership and external project partners, including creation, tracking, and reporting of metrics related to schedule, cost, and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage competing priorities.
• Drive speed, quality, and simplification by eliminating rework loops, reducing and automating manual work through standardization and automation.
• Create global best practice documentation and facilitate sharing across the globe.
• Motivate others to achieve impeccable quality in an explosive growth and deadline-driven environment.
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants (anticipated travel not to exceed 25%; international travel may be needed).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities including, but not limited to, data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
• 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of both mechanical and electrical equipment or design related to data center electrical and mechanical topology.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
• Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission-critical facilities, especially data centers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

Pay

USA, TX, Austin: $116,800.00 – $160,000.00 USD annually

USA, VA, Herndon: $116,800.00 – $160,000.00 USD annually

USA, WA, Seattle: $116,800.00 – $160,000.00 USD annually
