DB2 Engineer / Architect

About the role

A Senior DB2 Engineer / Architect is needed to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of IBM DB2 environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing IBM DB2 environments.
• Architect database solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and patch DB2 instances.
• Implement HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery) and replication strategies.
• Plan and execute database migrations and capacity planning.
• Develop backup and recovery strategies (Full, Incremental, Rollforward).
• Monitor and tune DB2 databases for performance and scalability.
• Optimize SQL queries, indexing strategies, and database structures.
• Analyze explain plans and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.
• Implement proactive monitoring solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience in UNIX environments (AIX/Linux/Solaris).
• Shell scripting for automation and operational efficiency.
• Performance monitoring at OS level (CPU, Memory, I/O, Disk).
• Troubleshoot system-level issues impacting database performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in DB2 database engineering and architecture.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing high-performance DB2 environments.
• Experience with HADR, replication strategies, and database migration.
• Strong understanding of backup and recovery strategies.
• Hands-on experience with UNIX systems (AIX/Linux/Solaris).
• Proficiency in shell scripting for automation and operational efficiency.
• Experience with performance monitoring tools and techniques.
• Ability to troubleshoot system-level issues impacting database performance.
