Potbelly Sandwich Shop is looking for friendly and outgoing people who enjoy working in a fast-paced, friendly environment. As a Potbelly Associate, you’ll help customers enjoy lunch by providing fast, friendly, and efficient service while delivering a quality and consistent product in a clean and inviting environment.

What started as a small antique store in 1977 has become a nationally recognized neighborhood sandwich shop with over 400 locations across the United States.

Schedule

We're hiring Team Members available for morning and day shifts ranging from 8am–4pm. You must have availability within this window, but you don’t need to be available for the entire time. Shifts include opening the shop, prepping food, and serving customers.

Responsibilities

• Work multiple stations (load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, front) as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
• Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness, and safety.
• Restock food line, chips, and cooler.
• Prepare quality finished products (sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream, etc.) efficiently.
• If 18 or older, use the automatic slicer to prep food items.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen, and utensils; take out trash.
• Operate cash register: handle, balance, and follow all cash handling procedures.
• Effectively handle customer complaints/issues.
• Take delivery, catering, and pickup orders over the phone.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least 16 years of age.
• Friendly, customer-first mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment (knife skills are a plus).
• Able to manage potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
• A team player who can stand/walk a minimum of 3 hours or as needed.
• Able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Illinois applicants: must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.
