Dayshift caregiver needed for Charleston Area

Job Overview

At Visiting Angels, our mission is to provide the highest quality care to those who struggle with activities of daily living. We deliver compassionate, non‑clinical care while continuously improving our services to exceed expectations. Caregivers are responsible for an individual’s safety and well‑being. Scheduling is flexible, ranging from 2‑hour shifts to 24‑hour coverage, allowing part‑time, full‑time, or as‑available work.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility
• Provide medication reminders
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene
• Prepare light meals according to dietary restrictions
• Transport clients to and from shops, pharmacies, or appointments
• Perform light housekeeping duties for the client
• Be a pleasant, engaging, and supportive companion

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and current auto‑insurance (commuting required)
• Adherence to client care plans
• Flexibility with schedules to meet client needs
• One year of in‑home caregiver experience preferred
• Strong communication and active listening skills with clients, families, and staff
• Ability to remain calm in emergent situations and promptly inform staff of any changes in client status

Skills

• One year of proven experience as an in‑home caregiver (preferred)
• Knowledge and demonstration of DME such as Hoyer lift, wheelchairs, transfer bench, and walker
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response; CPR preferred
• Familiarity with housekeeping activities
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
• Respectful, compassionate, and strong ethical standards
• Good time‑management skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities

Compensation

$15.00 – $17.00 per hour
