What are the responsibilities of a Daycare Teacher?
- Assists with the implementation of daily program activities under the guidance of the director and group supervisor.
- Covers daily group activities.
- Assists daycare aides.
- Ensures the well-being of children under their care.
- Ensure children get safely onto and off of the school bus at the beginning and end of each day.
- Makes sure children play and interact with one another in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Ensures children have good hygiene and changes diapers as needed.
- Cleans interactive areas throughout the day.
- Prepares snacks and meals for children.
- Attends and participates in daily/weekly/monthly team meetings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the Center of Learning and Belonging.
What are the qualifications needed for a Daycare Teacher?
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent required and 18 years of age or older.
- 2 years of verifiable employment or minimum of 2,500 hours of verifiable employment experience with children. You will be asked to contact previous work experience for verification of hours.
- Must be able to pass extensive criminal background checks and child abuse clearances before routine contact with children:
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance
- NSOR Verification
- Out-of-State Clearances (if applicable)
- Signed Disclosure Statement for Child Care Employment
- Either:
- PA State Police Criminal History Clearance OR
- FBI Criminal History Clearance
- Valid CPR upon hire is preferred but not required. We will provide CPR training upon orientation.
- Must be able to play with children in various ways including standing, kneeling, and playing on the floor.
- Must be able to move up to fifty (50) pounds.
