About the role

The Child Care Cook, Food Specialist is responsible for overall food preparation for the school’s enrolled children. This role adapts to menu changes, meets meal and snack schedules, and may assist in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher/Floater.

Responsibilities

• Create home‑style, nutritional meal plans within the school’s menu, budget, and state/federal requirements.
• Prepare meals and snacks for children and staff and distribute food to classrooms.
• Follow the daily menu provided by the Director, adhering to USDA, licensing, and health department regulations.
• Maintain inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
• Assist in classrooms as needed.

Requirements

• Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility (preferred).
• Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
• Flexibility regarding hours and schedule of work.

Compensation

Compensation is based on position, education, and experience. Employees may choose bi‑weekly or daily pay options. Food Specialist salary range: $15.48 – $16.08 per hour.

Schedule
