About the role
We are looking for someone to join our team. Work somewhere where you are valued not only as an employee but also as a person. We are a Group Center with a “Family Feel.” Little Light of Mine is looking for someone available from approximately 9:30 am–6:00 pm about 3 days a week, with the possibility that hours may change somewhat according to need; however, they would never extend past 6:00 pm.
Responsibilities
- Develop a cohesive teaching team, coordinate the curriculum, and manage the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom.
- Understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.
- Communicate effectively with both children and adults to meet children’s needs, guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns.
- Comply with all State regulations, including completing all required classes.
- Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
- Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
- Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
- Ensure a healthy classroom environment, including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and the safety and security of children.
- Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records, forms, and files.
- Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
- High energy.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification (can complete before first day of work).
- Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
- Will train the right person.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
- Must be able to keep up with children’s physical activity.
- Must be able to go from sitting to standing quickly without problem.
Nice to have
- Second language a plus.
- Prior daycare experience a plus.
- Enjoys the arts.
- Has other skills or knowledge that would relate to a childcare setting.
