Day to Day Guest Teacher ($30/per period) 2025-2026
About the role
Oak Park and River Forest High School is looking for substitute teachers in various subject areas. Substitutes report to the high school ready to perform the functions as outlined by the teacher's lesson plan.
Qualifications
- Valid Substitute License or Professional Educator's License (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Flexibility to substitute for various subject areas
- Availability to work on a regular basis
- Subbing/classroom experience is preferred
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a respectful and fair classroom culture that fosters safe and productive learning.
- Monitor, observe and report student behavior according to OPRFHS policies and procedures.
- Follow regular teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate.
- Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to lesson plans.
- Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment.
- May require traveling to multiple classrooms based on assignment.
- Taking accurate attendance electronically.

Pay
Regular day hours: 7:45 am to 3:15 pm
Long-Term Daily Rate (After 20 days on same assignment): $250.00 retroactive to the first day.

All substitute teachers must pass an Illinois State Police and FBI background check (at the District’s expense) and must complete a physical exam (at the employee’s expense within first 30 days of employment).
