About the role
The Day Program Aide / Caregiver assists adults with disabilities in various activities including vocational training, basic work skills, hygiene, money management, community participation, crafts, and other life skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist with activities in the Adult Training Facility
- Observe and report on participant accomplishments
- Maintain a safe and clean environment
- Transport participants to community learning, engagement, and fun activities
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Current driver’s license with ability to travel using an Agency vehicle
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification (provided by Lifesteps)
- First aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain and maintain within six months (provided by Lifesteps)
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 200 pounds with assistance
- One year experience working with individuals with disabilities in the human services field (such as direct care aide, home health aide, personal care assistant, direct support professional, medical assistant, etc.)
- Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators Certificate (ACRE) or Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) preferred
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in education, special education, sociology, social work, rehabilitation, counseling, therapy, transition programming, or any other related field
