Day Janitor
About the role
The day janitor is primarily responsible for the day to day cleaning and supplying designated areas, performing and documenting routine inspection and maintenance activities. The goal is to ensure the interior and exterior of the buildings are sanitary and free of debris and keep our buildings in a clean and orderly manner.
Qualifications
A high school diploma is preferred. The ideal candidate will have proven work experience as a janitor, ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery, familiarity with Materials Safety Data Sheets, integrity and ability to work independently, and knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
Responsibilities
- Clean and supply designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning and sanitization of restrooms and breakrooms, emptying of trash, etc.)
- Disinfect commonly used items like desks, door handles, office tools and phones
- Maintain outdoor grounds from trash and debris, as needed
- Replenishment of consumables (paper towels, toilet tissue, soap, etc.)
- Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities
- Notifying management of occurring deficiencies, needs for repair or unsafe conditions
- Operate floor equipment including but not limited to scrubbers
- Maintain and stock cleaning inventory
- Follow all health and safety regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
The role requires working with frequent interruptions, maintaining emotional control under stress, and the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
