About the role
Birch Family Services is seeking a Day Habilitation Manager to assist the Day Habilitation Coordinator in managing the dayhab center. The position involves staff supervision, treatment planning, and maintaining the physical plant to ensure quality services.
Responsibilities
- Manage DHS work tasks and assignments for residents and community-based tasks.
- Provide direct assistance to consumers within an OPWDD DH Program environment.
- Track and write daily and monthly notes for DH goals.
- Offer hand-over-hand care, mentoring, teaching independent living skills, and role modeling.
- Supervise and oversee the dayhab center in conjunction with the Day Hab Coordinator or in their absence.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on treatment and behavioral plans and overall care of individuals.
- Ensure scheduling of medical appointments, medication records, and implementation of RN/MD treatment orders.
- Ensure behavioral support plans are met according to the plans.
- Attend semi-annual, annual, and special meetings at schools and/or day treatment programs.
- Communicate professionally with schools, residences, and/or day treatment programs as necessary.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in OPWDD-related fields, with 2 years in a supervisory capacity within a dayhab setting.
- Preferably experience in residential, health, or treatment-related settings.
- Demonstrated competency in written, verbal, and computational skills to document records in accordance with program standards.
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including second shifts and weekends.
- Able to communicate effectively with clients, top management, and staff.
- Able to perform basic mathematical skills and solve practical and intellectual problems.
- Able to organize, prioritize, and execute responsibilities under minimal supervision.
- Able to recognize the need for confidentiality and maintain such confidences.
Skills and/or Experience Required
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a related field, preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in OPWDD-related fields, with 2 years in a supervisory capacity within a dayhab setting.
- Skills: Demonstrated competency in written, verbal, and computational skills; ability to articulate the company’s philosophy, mission, and goals; ability to work within general guidelines and minimal supervision; ability to organize, prioritize, and execute responsibilities under minimal supervision; ability to recognize the need for confidentiality of information and to maintain such confidences; ability to communicate effectively with clients, top management, and staff in verbal and written formats; ability to perform basic mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication; ability to solve practical and intellectual problems utilizing principles of logical thinking; ability to work within a flexible schedule; ability to travel to sites in and outside the company using customary modes of public or private transportation; ability to work long, irregular hours, including second shifts and a varied schedule, including weekends, to accomplish essential functions; ability to return to work in emergency situations on an on-call basis; ability to physically operate routine office equipment such as telephones, computers, etc.; ability to utilize near vision ability to read data and documents, including spreadsheets and reports, in printed form and on computer screens; ability to physically operate a motor vehicle; ability to provide physical care for clients and consumers, which may include, but is not limited to, bathing, feeding, changing clothes or diapers, and pushing wheelchairs; ability to physically restrain abusive clients/consumers.
