Day EMT Basic

About the Role

EMTs are professionally trained to care for the sick or injured in emergency medical settings. EMTs provide basic emergency and non-emergency paramedical care to the ill and injured. People’s lives often depend on EMTs' quick reaction and competent care. EMTs respond to emergency calls, performing medical services and transporting patients to medical facilities while continuing to provide care during transport. EMTs must perform their duties in a calm, reassuring, and efficient manner, maintaining composure in extremely stressful situations to assess medical conditions and perform emergency lifesaving procedures. EMTs must also safely transfer patients onto a stretcher and lift and carry it into the ambulance when necessary.

Requirements

• Illinois Licensure as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)-Basic (required for interview)
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record
• Skills and experience to function proficiently at the BLS level of service
• Must successfully pass Region XI CNEMS System Entry process
• Current CPR card
• Consent to a criminal background check
• Must be available for up to 3-day orientation class
• Ability to lift, push, or pull at least 150+ lbs
