Position Summary
The Day Camp Lead Counselor will monitor, lead, and give direction to a group of children. This position will work with children, fellow counselors, and staff to provide a safe and meaningful summer day camp experience in a Christian environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Supervise a group of campers ages 6-12.
- Work as part of the ministry team and other staff members.
- Provide leadership to a group of counselors.
- Complete all administrative duties as assigned by the Community Center Director.
- Be the responsible staff for all off-site activities.
- Duties include parking, paying admissions, collecting receipts, lunch arrangements, and disciplinary actions, as needed.
- Act as a liaison between director and staff regarding disciplinary actions, information distribution and paperwork collection, i.e., camper attendance sheets, high five tickets.
- Supervise the daily clean-up of The SAL and all areas used by day camp.
- Assume duties of counselor when working with an assigned group of campers.
- Conduct staff meetings with counselors, as needed.
- Program and plan activities, as assigned by director.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age; some formal work with youth preferred.
- Prior experience with the SAL Summer Programs.
- Education/Experience: Previous experience working with children a plus.
- Willingness to work as part of the ministry team and other staff members.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Knowledge of arts & crafts a plus.
- Computer Skills: Basic computer skills required.
