About The Role
We are seeking a Data Center Estimator to join our growing team in Paramus, NJ. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on data center infrastructure experience who is looking to transition into an office-based estimating role. This is not a traditional estimating position. Our estimators are responsible for developing complete project estimates, including labor, materials, bills of materials (BOMs), takeoffs, and scopes of work for mission critical data center infrastructure projects. Success in this role requires the ability to understand how a project will be built and accurately estimate every component required for installation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate labor and material estimates for data center infrastructure projects.
- Develop bills of materials (BOMs), material takeoffs, and detailed scopes of work.
- Review drawings, layouts, and customer requirements to build complete project estimates.
- Conduct site surveys and gather project information as needed.
- Work closely with project managers, sales, and operations to ensure accurate project pricing.
- Proofread estimates for accuracy before submission.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel and other internal estimating tools to prepare proposals.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience installing or estimating data center infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of structured cabling, fiber optic and copper cabling systems.
- Experience with ladder rack, cable tray, wire basket, strut/channel systems, server cabinets, and supporting infrastructure.
- Ability to interpret drawings, Visio layouts, and project documentation.
- Knowledge of labor estimating, material takeoffs, and bills of materials.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Bluebeam, SAP, and Visio is preferred.
- Familiarity with industry estimating resources such as RSMeans, NECA, or similar is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong written communication skills.
- Preferred Background: Candidates with experience in one or more of the following will be highly regarded: Data center construction, Structured cabling, Fiber optic installation, Mission critical facilities, Commercial or industrial electrical contracting, Low voltage systems, Field installation experience.
