Database Developer (Snowflake)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced general database developer to contribute to the support and development of a multi-terabyte inventory and position data platform serving the Delta1 Structured Products team globally. The successful candidate will play a key part in building out a new Snowflake-based data platform, while also supporting and maintaining our existing KDB+ technology stack. A central objective of the role is to help migrate our current KDB+ dependencies onto Snowflake — a greenfield effort that offers significant scope for design and architectural input.

Responsibilities

• Performance optimization, testing, database engineering, platform migration, version upgrades, and development and distribution on cloud platforms
• Operate in a fast-paced Agile environment where time to market is a key requirement without compromising on the quality and resiliency of the platform

Required Skills

• Intermediate-level knowledge of development and performance optimization on major RDBMS technologies
• Scripting knowledge (Python)
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems
• Version control
• Excellent communication skills

Preferred Skills

• Data modelling concepts
• Knowledge of ETL products
• Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data platforms
• Exposure to KDB+/q (or a strong willingness to learn)
• Understanding of financial data domains: inventory, securities lending/borrow, prime brokerage, or position data
• Agile practices
• Integrity & ownership, good team player, high degree of motivation to expand technical and business knowledge
