About the Role

ProviderTrust was founded in 2010 with a mission to create safer healthcare for everyone through OIG and state Medicaid exclusion monitoring. Today, the organization has developed the industry's most accurate dataset for ongoing exclusion monitoring and primary source verification, serving the nation's top health systems, payers, and healthcare organizations. Our solutions monitor employees, vendors, provider networks, licenses, credentials, and more for OIG and state Medicaid exclusions, sanctions or disciplinary actions, license expirations, or suspensions. With a team of 100+ employees, our Nashville-based company has consistently been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work by Modern Healthcare, Inc. Magazine, and the Nashville Business Journal.

The ProviderTrust Data Warehouse Engineer, a member of the Data Services team, will make healthcare safer by building and maintaining the data pipelines and warehouse models that turn application data, client data, and third-party data into trustworthy, queryable information. This role owns the transformation layer between our operational systems and the analysts, products, and clients who depend on that data being correct. The Data Warehouse Engineer will report directly to the Director of Data Services.

Responsibilities

  • Own the pipelines: Build, maintain, and troubleshoot the ETL processes that ingest application data, client data, and third-party data into our warehouse.
  • Steward client-facing data: Maintain third-party data pipelines behind our data products, respond to data escalations, and improve the process over time. Partner with each dataset's owner to keep the curated data accurate and current.
  • Model the warehouse: Design and maintain transformations, materialized views, and aggregates in SQL and Python, making deliberate choices about grain and structure so downstream consumers can rely on the data.
  • Protect data quality: Design processes and metrics that assess, maintain, and improve data quality. Detect source-system and business-process changes that impact analytical data and partner with stakeholders to correct them.
  • Enable analysts and products: Build data models that feed reporting, BI, and emerging use cases such as a queryable provider-data layer, working closely with analysts and the BI engineer.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Curiosity and initiative to learn undocumented systems and take ownership of work without being assigned it
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to stay aligned with the team
  • Several years building and maintaining production data pipelines
  • Familiarity with data warehouse structures, models, and concepts (dimensional modeling, materialized views, transformation layers)
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve production data issues independently
  • Strong SQL and Python
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and training

Skills You Will Develop

  • Healthcare compliance data domain knowledge (exclusions, sanctions, licenses, credentials)
  • Designing a semantic / queryable data layer for analytics and AI use cases
  • Data warehouse architecture and platform decisions at scale
  • Stakeholder management across product, engineering, and operations
