Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic data professional to serve as the authoritative steward of our enterprise customer data ecosystem. This role sits at the intersection of data architecture, product thinking, and governance — responsible for defining, owning, and evolving the canonical customer data model that underpins operational, analytical, and AI-driven capabilities across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary owner of the enterprise customer data model, including conceptual, logical, and physical representations
  • Define and maintain canonical customer entities, relationships, hierarchies, and identifiers across systems
  • Govern model evolution to support new business capabilities while preventing fragmentation and redundancy
  • Resolve semantic conflicts across source systems and ensure consistent customer definitions enterprise-wide
  • Own and oversee customer-centric data products, including curated datasets, views, and domain data assets
  • Define data product contracts covering schemas, SLAs, quality rules, access patterns, and usage expectations
  • Partner with engineering and analytics teams to ensure data products are production-grade, discoverable, and reusable
  • Ensure customer data products are designed for analytics, reporting, and AI/ML consumption
  • Ensure customer data models and products align with enterprise data platform standards, including lakehouse, catalog, and governance frameworks
  • Guide ingestion, transformation, and persistence patterns to preserve model integrity and performance
  • Collaborate with integration, application, and analytics architects to embed customer data consistently across solutions
  • Participate in architecture governance forums, providing clear recommendations and decision rationale
  • Define and enforce data quality standards, validation rules, and stewardship processes for customer data
  • Partner with data governance teams on metadata, lineage, classification, and access controls
  • Enable downstream teams through clear documentation, diagrams, and reference models
  • Act as a subject-matter expert for customer data in design reviews and delivery engagements

Skills

  • Deep expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, including 3NF, dimensional, and hybrid models
  • Strong understanding of data product concepts, including ownership, contracts, and lifecycle management
  • Experience working with modern data platforms such as lakehouse architectures, cloud data platforms, and data catalogs
  • Ability to influence and align cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Familiarity with MDM, customer identity resolution, and cross-system customer harmonization
  • Experience supporting AI/ML use cases through well-modeled, high-quality customer data
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex models to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience 8 or more years of experience in data architecture or data modeling roles
  • Proven experience owning and evolving a core enterprise domain model such as Customer, Party, or Account
  • Experience in regulated or complex enterprise environments such as utilities, finance, or healthcare is preferred

Qualifications

  • Formal education or equivalent professional experience in data management, information architecture, computer science, or a related field
  • Relevant certifications in data management, data governance, or enterprise architecture are a plus
