Data Systems Engineer - FT

Position Summary

The Data Systems Engineer (DSE) reports to the Senior Manager of Software Engineering and designs, builds, and maintains the data layer of Public Strategies' custom Ruby on Rails applications. The DSE owns relational schema design and data modeling in PostgreSQL, builds and evolves ActiveRecord models and migrations, and safeguards data integrity across all business units. Working closely with stakeholders and technical leads, the DSE translates business processes into sound, performant data structures, drawing on deep knowledge of PS direct services and the systems that support them. This role balances hands on Rails development with the reporting and analysis that inform business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Designs and builds the data layer of custom Ruby on Rails applications
• Owns relational schema design and data modeling in PostgreSQL
• Buils and evolves ActiveRecord models and migrations
• Safeguards data integrity across all business units
• Works closely with stakeholders and technical leads to translate business processes into sound, performant data structures
