Data Strategist
About the role
The Strategy team at Point72 is a multidisciplinary group that partners directly with the firm's businesses to identify, design, and lead value-creating strategic business initiatives. We enable the development of new businesses, engage in special projects, and support the firm's strategic planning process. We also source, negotiate, and manage the firm's data assets, building a unified foundation that supports our investment professionals and the firm's growing data and AI ambitions.
Responsibilities
- Shape the data sourcing strategy to help investment teams access differentiated, compliant research inputs that can inform investment decision-making
- Research alternative data ecosystems and market trends to identify new sources of insight for internal research consumers
- Evaluate prospective data and research providers by assessing content quality, relevance, usability, and fit with investment team needs
- Manage relationships with external data and research providers, including service changes, ongoing engagement, and awareness of market developments
- Negotiate business terms and pricing with content providers while coordinating internal alignment on scope and value
- Coordinate onboarding for new data and research sources by gathering requirements, managing approvals, and driving timely implementation
- Partner with Compliance to evaluate new providers, monitor existing relationships, and support appropriate use of services
- Guide team members and help develop consistent processes across provider management activities
Requirements
- 2-4 years of experience in alternative data, financial services, or a closely related data-focused research environment
- Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance
- Experience negotiating contracts, pricing, and business terms with external providers or partners
- Understanding of data sourcing, provider evaluation, and research partnership management within an investment or research context
- Proficiency with Excel for organizing, analyzing, and presenting data, provider information, and workflow details
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for engaging investment professionals, research colleagues, internal stakeholders, and external partners
- A high attention to detail, strong quality standards, and ability to manage sensitive processes accurately
- Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities
- Emerging leadership skills, including the ability to guide team members and collaborate effectively across multiple teams

Benefits
The annual base salary range for this role is $130,000-$150,000 (USD), which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
