Data Steward - Institutional Division

This role sits on a team of 8 people in the Institutional division and focuses on data coordination, management, and governance to ensure appropriate, consistent, and efficient application of data around various business use cases.
Locations: Newport Beach, CA; Omaha, NE; or Charlotte, NC.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and drive prioritization of data changes across various departments and integrate data with IT systems to ensure alignment of data architecture across different work streams.
- Support Data/IT in designing and developing a Source of Truth data repository.
- Support new product implementation into systems and production processes, including developing requirements for Data/IT to implement new products for administration, valuation, reporting, and product monitoring/management.
- Ensure data quality and consistency by deploying validation checks/rules and data cleansing activities. Build processes to identify and address potential data issues that could impact downstream use cases.
- Create requirements for necessary controls and QA processes for Data/IT to build and deploy.
- Support exploratory data analysis and provide insights from data repository elements to business users across the division, encompassing both source data and downstream output for reporting and ad-hoc analysis.
- Provide training and create comprehensive documentation of data processes for division and enterprise function users.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
- Expertise in data management, data governance, data architecture solutions, and data development life cycle.
- Proficiency in SQL, databases, data lakes, data visualization tools, scripting languages (e.g., Python, R), and data management platforms. Experience with Snowflake is a plus.
- Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex data and solve problems effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration and conveying technical concepts.
- Experience in task prioritization, timeline management, and stakeholder coordination.
- Commitment to staying updated with advancements in data management techniques and industry trends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Track record of innovation, initiative, and deep analytical capabilities.
- Knowledge across diverse actuarial and/or financial functions within a life and annuity insurance company.
- Product experience across a diverse set of insurance or financial products.
- Familiarity with actuarial projection software and enterprise planning systems.
Pay
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Most employees are also eligible for additional incentive pay.
$167,670.00 - $204,930.00
