About the role
The Data Steward is responsible for ensuring Allied’s organizational data assets are reliable, secured, and managed effectively. They play a critical role in implementing data governance policies and maintaining data quality, accuracy, consistency, and security. They collaborate with technical and business teams to ensure data is properly defined, understood, and standardized across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Data Governance – 40%
- Define and describe business data attributes to ensure clarity and consistency.
- Curate and manage the data catalog that includes business glossaries, metadata, data rules, data lineage, and data standards.
- Contribute to development of data governance documentation like process workflows and business glossaries.
- Data Analysis – 25%
- Monitor data quality metrics, identify issues, and coordinate remediation efforts to maintain accuracy and reliability.
- Perform ad-hoc data analysis to profile and interpret data sets.
- Collaboration – 25%
- Assist stakeholders like subject matter experts and data owners with data interpretation and decision-making for their data governance requirements.
- Resolve data-related conflicts and ambiguity.
- Foster a culture of data governance awareness and accountability through data literacy initiatives.
- Information Security – 10%
- Classify data assets and attributes by the guidelines set by Information Security and data governance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 1–3 years of experience in managing and analyzing data is required.
- Experience in data governance tools such as Alation, Collibra, or others is preferred.
- Proficiency in data analysis, profiling, and modeling is preferred.
- Proficiency in basic SQL to query, review, and validate data is preferred.
- Intermediary Excel skills for data analysis and reporting are preferred.
- Experience in a data analysis platform like Tableau or Power BI is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to identify data problems and create actionable solutions.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
