We’re looking for someone like you to lead complex data exploration and analytics projects through your experience with Python and AI/ML for the Department of Defense. As an advanced data scientist on our Navy team, you’ll learn and apply innovative data analytic methodologies to make a real-world impact on the development of decision support tools. You’ll grow your skills in data science, AI, and bibliometrics. You’ll shape the future of analytics through innovative portfolio analysis and decision support tooling in DoD environments. We’ll keep you sharp and moving forward in your career, with access to online courses, communities of practice, and opportunities to publish or present at conferences. Whether you’re using AI to improve government efficiency or support the development of defense capabilities, you’ll guide a team that serves critical missions from end to end.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience with data exploration, data cleaning, data analysis, data visualization, or data mining
- 3+ years of experience with statistical and general-purpose programming languages for data analysis and analyzing structured and unstructured data sources
- Experience developing predictive data models, quantitative analyses, object-oriented programming, and visualization of targeted data sources
- Experience with clustering and topic modeling, automated query generation, implementation of Generative AI and Large Language Models, natural language processing of unstructured data, entity disambiguation, network analysis, bibliometric and citation analysis, econometric analysis, relationship extraction, or Science and Technology forecasting
- Experience in data science tool development, ETL data pipeline development, and Python
- Experience devising and managing AI, ML, and GenAI based projects aligned to business needs
- Ability to cross-validate models to ensure their generalizability
- Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or Statistics
- CompTIA Security+ CE, Unix +, or AWS Solutions Architect Certification
Nice to Have
- Experience in the development of algorithms leveraging R, Python, SQL, or NoSQL
- Experience with distributed data and computing tools, including MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL
- Experience with visualization packages, including Plotly, Seaborn, or ggplot2
- Experience coordinating a workstream and managing tasks
- Experience in data science with a focus on Science and Technology programs

Pay
Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
