About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Data Scientist specializing in Finance Analytics to join our team in San Francisco, CA.
Your primary responsibility will be to build scalable infrastructure, tooling, and semantic layers that enable Finance to independently access and analyze spending data, moving beyond ad hoc request models. You will design AI-assisted workflows to enhance data usability at scale, ensuring the finance team can answer complex questions efficiently and accurately.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in analytics roles spanning finance and product analytics
- Proven track record of building scalable analytics infrastructure, especially in FinTech, payments, or card services
- Direct experience partnering with Finance or Strategic Finance organizations
- Fluency in SQL and proficiency in Python
- Deep expertise in experimental design, A/B testing, causal inference, and applying machine learning techniques to business problems
- Strong data storytelling skills, with experience using Hex and Looker for executive communication
- Experience developing data pipelines with dbt and Airflow to support ongoing analytics needs
- Fluency with AI analytics tools such as Claude Code and Cursor, and a history of driving their adoption
- Ability to influence senior leaders and act as a trusted strategic partner
- Strong business intuition, prioritization skills, and a proactive approach to problem discovery
Responsibilities
- Partner with Strategic Finance to understand their data needs and develop scalable solutions
- Build and maintain robust data infrastructure, semantic layers, and self-serve tooling for finance analytics
- Design and implement AI-assisted workflows to enhance data usability at scale
- Lead the development of data pipelines using dbt and Airflow to support ongoing analytics needs
- Apply advanced statistical methods, experimental design, and machine learning to solve complex business problems
- Mentor and guide junior analysts, fostering a culture of best practices and continuous improvement
- Communicate insights effectively to executive leadership through compelling data storytelling and visualization
- Influence the data roadmap and strategic initiatives by providing data-driven recommendations
- Reframe ambiguous requests to identify underlying business questions and deliver impactful solutions
- Drive adoption of AI and analytics tools across teams to enhance operational efficiency
