About the role
The Data Scientist Intern will assist our full-time Data Scientist team in the analysis, development, and testing of code supporting our existing and future products and services. Specifically, they will learn, analyze, and utilize our data to solve problems and answer questions that lead us to better serve our customers. Duties include visualizing or contextualizing raw data, training, evaluating, and deploying various modeling techniques, and communicating resulting trends and observations. The intern may also help curate data upstream to ensure it is available in the most advantageous way for analysis and modeling.
Ideally, the Data Scientist Intern will gain the knowledge and experience necessary to transition into a full-time Data Scientist role when ready and the opportunity arises.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and utilize data to solve problems and improve customer service
- Visualize and contextualize raw data
- Train, evaluate, and deploy various modeling techniques (e.g., tree-based models, neural networks)
- Communicate trends and observations derived from data analysis
- Assist in curating and structuring data upstream to facilitate analysis and modeling
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Completion of or progress toward a degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or another applied/quantitative discipline
- Experience in Python or R, including various libraries/packages
- Understanding of machine learning concepts and techniques
- Ability to perform critical thinking and statistical analysis
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of computer vision, Natural Language Processing, or Large Language Models (preferred)
- Experience with SQL, stored procedures, or APIs (preferred)
- Familiarity with platforms like Spark, Kubernetes, Docker, or Jenkins (preferred)
- Ability to commute to the local office as scheduled
- Able to work independently and communicate within a team environment

Schedule
Regular workweek hours. Daily commute to the local office is required.
