About the role

Wayfair Data Science powers an enterprise obsessed with data. The Customer Tech Data Science team focuses on understanding and optimizing customer behavior on Wayfair’s websites and mobile app, which generate over 100 M daily clicks from millions of shoppers. Team members combine quantitative analysis, coding, and business acumen to tackle complex challenges in a fast-paced environment, with immediate impact and significant leadership opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Construct optimized code that extracts and transforms multi-terabyte data from sales, clickstream, logistics, product, and customer databases to deliver actionable business insights.
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering, and design teams to identify high-impact ways data and analytics can drive decision-making and accelerate profitable growth.
  • Become the subject-matter expert for data, analytics, and testing in your area, ensuring accurate interpretation of core metrics and consumer behavior.
  • Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests to make high-impact changes to the customer experience.
  • Perform deep-dive analysis using advanced analytical techniques to solve critical and complex business problems.
  • Develop data visualizations, reports, dashboards, and analyses in Looker and GBQ to distribute insights in an easily digestible format.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, Economics, or another quantitative discipline; Master’s preferred.
  • 2+ years of work experience in analytics or data science.
  • Proficiency in a statistical programming language such as Python, R, SAS, or SPSS.
  • Proficiency in SQL (including aggregate functions and joins).
  • Experience conducting quantitative analyses on large, complex data sets.
  • Experience leveraging modeling algorithms to derive business insights.
  • Experience with experimental test design, such as A/B testing.
  • Experience with data visualization software (e.g., Google Data Studio, Tableau, PowerBI); Looker experience a plus.
  • Analytical, creative, and innovative approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • E-commerce or retail analytics experience is a plus.

Pay

$121,000 – $132,000 per year.
