About the role

The National Security Agency (NSA) seeks experienced Data Scientists to join mission offices and tackle complex data problems. This role requires a blend of mathematical, statistical, and computer science skills, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Explore data analysis and model-fitting to reveal data features of interest
  • Use machine-learned predictive modeling
  • Construct usable data sets from multiple sources to meet customer needs
  • Identify and analyze anomalous data (including metadata)
  • Develop conceptual design and models to address mission requirements
  • Develop qualitative and quantitative methods for characterizing datasets in various states
  • Perform analytic modeling, scripting, and/or programming
  • Work collaboratively and iteratively throughout the data-science lifecycle
  • Design and develop analytics and techniques for analysis
  • Analyze data using mathematical and statistical methods
  • Evaluate, document, and communicate research processes, analyses, and results to customers, peers, and leadership
  • Create interpretable visualizations

Requirements

Applicants must pass the Data Science Examination (DSE) to be considered. They must also have a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, including programming and one or more of the following: designing/implementing machine learning, data mining, statistical analysis, statistical consulting, artificial intelligence development, computational science, software engineering, technical writing, data visualization, or data engineering. Additional requirements vary by degree type.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Master's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Doctoral degree with 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Formal or informal leadership experience
  • Programming experience

Benefits

Comprehensive benefits package including salary offers based on education and experience, training, and a flexible work schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Monday - Friday).

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Salary range: $132,751 - $197,200 (Senior, Expert)
  • Benefits: Comprehensive package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off
  • Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8-hour days (flexible)
