Data Scientist - Experienced to Expert Level (Maryland)
About the role
The National Security Agency (NSA) seeks experienced Data Scientists to join its mission teams. This role involves tackling complex data problems using a multidisciplinary approach, including AI, data engineering, ML Ops, and human perception.
Responsibilities
- Explore data analysis and model fitting to reveal data features of interest
- Use machine-learned predictive modeling
- Construct usable data sets from multiple sources to meet customer needs
- Identify and analyze anomalous data (including metadata)
- Develop conceptual design and models to address mission requirements
- Develop qualitative and quantitative methods for characterizing datasets in various states
- Perform analytic modeling, scripting, and/or programming
- Work collaboratively and iteratively throughout the data-science lifecycle
- Design and develop analytics and techniques for analysis
- Analyze data using mathematical and statistical methods
- Evaluate, document, and communicate research processes, analyses, and results to customers, peers, and leadership
- Create interpretable visualizations
Requirements
Applicants must pass the Data Science Examination (DSE) to be considered. They must also have a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, 4 years with a Master's degree, or 2 years with a Doctoral degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional requirements include a Data Science certificate, advanced coursework in mathematics and computer science, and experience in programming and data-related fields.

Experience in formal or informal leadership is also required.

Benefits
NSA offers a comprehensive benefits package, including salary ranging from $132,751 to $197,200 for Senior and Expert levels, depending on education and experience. Benefits include training, flexible work schedules, and opportunities for professional growth through participation in technical roundtables and conferences.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position. Benefits include a comprehensive package, and the work schedule is Monday to Friday, with a basic 8-hour day between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (flexible).
