About the Role
This Data Scientist / Data Quality Lead role is a contract-to-hire position focused on designing and building the organization's data-quality and assurance function. This hands-on role is responsible for architecting and implementing systems that ensure data freshness, completeness, coverage, and accuracy. The position directly impacts the reliability of data used by key clients and shapes the future direction of the company’s data quality efforts.
Responsibilities
- Architect and initiate development of an observability platform, including signal frameworks, health scoring, and pipeline instrumentation.
- Define data quality standards across various dimensions and develop detection mechanisms to identify issues proactively.
- Address complex data-quality questions from major clients to guide platform requirements.
- Investigate anomalies to determine root causes such as source changes, collection failures, or processing errors.
- Transition monitoring concepts into fully operational systems.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data science, data quality, or data reliability involving large, complex datasets.
- Proficiency in anomaly detection, baselining, and statistical quality metrics.
- Experience troubleshooting data issues across collection, processing, and source systems.
- Skilled in SQL, Python, and modern data warehouse platforms like Snowflake, along with observability tools.
- Availability to begin work within approximately two weeks.
- Preferred experience with competitive pricing, marketplace data, or backgrounds in consumer travel, OTA, or rate intelligence.
Pay
3-month contract, remote, full-time equivalent, with an hourly rate between $85 and $150 depending on arrangement and location. Upon successful conversion, the permanent role offers a competitive base salary plus equity, with an indicative base ranging from $155,000 to $205,000 (US) or equivalent in local European markets.
