Data Scientist
Leidos has an opportunity for a Data Scientist in our National Security Sector's Cyber & Analytics Business Area. Our team leads in Security Engineering, Computer Network Operations, Mission Software, Analytical Methods and Modeling, Signals Intelligence, and Cryptographic Key Management.
About the role
The CEMA Department is seeking a talented Data Scientist in Huntsville, AL to join our development team and create unique solutions for complex problems in system security, engineering, and defense domains. As a Data Scientist, you will design, build, deploy, and maintain mission-critical AI/ML solutions that support our customers’ mission objectives. You will collaborate with software engineers, machine learning engineers, data scientists, and product managers, contributing to feature design, architecture, and migrating solutions from research into deployment.
Responsibilities
- Collection and analysis of data
- Research current and future cyber security threats against systems
- Drive continuous improvement by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity
- Contribute to the technical direction of our products and technology stack
- Work with subject matter experts and customer liaisons to define and develop solutions that solve our customers’ problems
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience
- Experience working full-time in an agile software engineering team environment
- Strong knowledge of Python programming language
- Familiarity with Scikit Learn and PyTorch frameworks
- Experience conducting guided and exploratory data analysis on large datasets
- Experience developing AI/ML solutions
- Knowledge of AI/ML techniques such as supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning and their corresponding strengths and weaknesses
- Experience reviewing and evaluating academic publications for technical applications
- Strong written and presentation skills
- Must live in or be willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% each year (moderate travel to testing locations, typically CONUS)
- Must be a US Citizen and possess (or be eligible to obtain and maintain) a Final Top Secret/SSBI Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical degree
- Strong knowledge of C++ programming language
- Experience in AI/ML architecture, design, and deployment
- Experience in software architecture, design, and deployment
- Experience developing and deploying AI/ML applications to edge devices
- Experience developing and deploying low SWAP AI/ML applications
- Experience and interest in fundamental networking implementations and concepts
- Experience with Agile software development, CI/CD toolchains, and DevOps (e.g., Atlassian suite, git, Jenkins, Artifactory)
- Experience deploying and maintaining software products on Windows, Ubuntu, and Red Hat
- Knowledge of networking protocols and tools like Wireshark

Pay
Pay Range: $69,550.00 - $125,725.00. The Leidos pay range is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Additional factors considered include responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, internal equity, and market data.
