Data Scientist 2 with Security Clearance

About the role

Data Scientist 2 at Altamira Technologies supports key activities in defending against emerging threats in the cybersecurity domain. They work directly with software engineering and threat analyst teams to model complex data in environments with multiple databases and varied technology stacks. The role requires a TS/SCI/FS Poly clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement machine learning, data mining, advanced analytical algorithms, and statistical analysis.
• Create mission-specific and tailored tradecraft automated solutions that integrate into the architecture.
• Implement best practices in knowledge management and develop automated solutions.
• Develop statistical and graph-based algorithms to analyze and interpret data sets.
• Clean and structure disparate data from a global customer base.
• Produce data visualizations consumable by both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Translate qualitative analysis processes and goals into quantitative formulations and code them into software prototypes.
• Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to create descriptive and predictive analytics.

Requirements

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, mathematics, operations research, engineering, or computer science).
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in two (2) or more of the following: designing/implementing machine learning, data mining, advanced analytical algorithms, advanced statistical analysis, artificial intelligence, or software engineering with data analysis software (e.g., R, Python, SAS, MATLAB).
• Experience with Python, Jupyter Notebooks, ElasticSearch/Kibana, SQL database, and proficiency with Windows server management and Power BI Report Service.
• Background working with analyst teams, conducting data analysis, and creating data visualizations.
• Experience with graph analytics, data pipelines, and IP-based network data is a plus.
• U.S. Citizenship and active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, mathematics, or computer science).
• Seven plus (7+) years’ experience in two or more of the following: designing/implementing machine learning, data mining, advanced analytical algorithms, advanced statistical analysis, artificial intelligence, or software engineering with data analysis software (e.g., R, Python, SAS, MATLAB).
• Experience with Java is a plus.
• Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree may be substituted for some experience.

Skills

• Proficiency with Python/Jupyter Notebooks, SQL and relational databases, ElasticSearch/Kibana/OpenSearch.
• Experience working within a cybersecurity mission environment using tools and capabilities to generate threat intelligence.
• Experience working with analyst teams including conducting data analysis and creating data visualizations.
• Experience with graph analytics, data pipelines, and IP-based network data is a plus.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
