Data Science Intern
Primary Responsibilities
Work with a mentor to develop cutting edge machine learning algorithms and statistical models for national defense.
Work with a mentor to research and apply state-of-the-art solutions to novel problems across the active and passive sensing domains.
Work with a mentor to conduct actionable data analysis.
Contribute to AI/ML research code in support of rapid prototyping.
Document results.
Basic Qualifications
- Junior or Senior in college working towards a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field.
- Experience in Python and the standard machine learning libraries.
- Good analytical and mathematical skills.
- Interest in scientific algorithm development, applied machine learning research, large dataset analysis, and signal processing methodologies.
- Interest in innovation, problem solving, and achieving technical results.
- Ability and desire to learn new concepts.
- Able to obtain a Top-Secret Security Clearance.
- If U.S. citizen, able to meet U.S. Citizenship requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a graduate program.
- Experience with machine learning methods and concepts.
About the Role
Leidos tackles the most challenging national defense problems using advanced signal processing algorithms and data analytics. At our San Diego, CA office, we have a dedicated and experienced team of Scientists and Engineers devoted to squeezing the last bit of information from every data set. We are seeking a Data Science Intern with an interest in algorithm research, development, and implementation, who also possesses a strong scientific curiosity and desire to learn new things.

Benefits
Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00
