Data Science Engineering
Job Summary
The data science engineer will work closely with the PI and his research group to develop computational and data-driven methods supporting research in algebraic geometry, computational algebra, and related areas of mathematics and scientific computing. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and implementation of algorithms, symbolic computation systems, data processing pipelines, and machine learning.
Essential Job Duties
- Develop computational and data-driven methods supporting research in algebraic geometry, computational algebra, and related areas of mathematics and scientific computing
- Contribute to the design and implementation of algorithms, symbolic computation systems, data processing pipelines, and machine learning
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Background in Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics
- Strong programming skills in Python and R
- Background in algebraic geometry, computational algebra, and symbolic computation
- Experience with algorithm development and research
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong programming skills in SQL and PyTorch
- Familiarity with cloud computing, high-performance computing platforms and distributed computing environments
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies
- Experience building, deploying, and maintaining data pipelines, analytical workflows, and machine learning systems in production or research environments
- Experience with version control, testing, and software engineering best practices
Hiring Range
$40.50 - $64.00 per hour
