Internship Summary

Phoenix Contact's Corporate Management Team is seeking a Data Science & Analytics Intern to support strategic initiatives across Product Management, Operations, Sales, and Marketing. This role is ideal for students who enjoy combining technical data skills with business problem solving.

What does a typical day look like?

  • Meet with Product Management, Operations, Manufacturing, Sales, or AEP teams to understand business challenges and decision-making needs.
  • Analyze customer, product, pricing, operations, supply chain, and financial data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical approaches.
  • Work directly with leadership and subject matter experts to understand product portfolios, operational processes, and customer dynamics.
  • Build dashboards, predictive models, business cases, and executive-level recommendations.
  • Present findings, risks, and recommended actions to stakeholders.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in: Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Business Analytics.
  • Advanced Excel skills including Power Query, Pivot Tables, and data modeling.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy, or similar BI platforms.
  • Strong SQL and database fundamentals.
  • Experience with Python, R, or other analytical programming languages preferred.
  • Experience using AI productivity and analysis tools (Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.).
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate business problems into analytical solutions.
  • Comfortable presenting insights and recommendations to business stakeholders.
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn products, markets, and operational processes quickly.

Essential Job Functions

  • Look at a computer screen for extended periods of time (up to 4 hours).
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time (2-4 hours at a time).
  • Commute to Middletown, PA office.
  • Ontime and regular attendance.
