Data Science Analyst
About the role
We are seeking a Data Science Analyst to support our client teams with insights gained from analyzing data using advanced analytics techniques. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving business results through data-driven insights and will be comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders and functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with client teams to identify opportunities for leveraging advanced analytical techniques to drive business solutions.
- Mine and analyze data to drive optimization and improvement of business strategies.
- Develop custom AI/ML models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
- Create and monitor data models while maintaining accuracy and other associated metrics necessary for the business objective.
- Contribute to the design, prototyping, and evaluation of Agentic AI workflows, including retrieval-augmented generation, tool-assisted workflows, and human-in-the-loop controls.
- Apply advanced Generative AI techniques, including prompt engineering, model evaluation, grounding, safety guardrails, and responsible AI practices, under guidance from senior team members.
- Leverage AI assistive engineering tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms to improve development velocity, code quality, documentation, and experimentation.
- Demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and a continuous learning mindset when exploring new AI/ML tools, techniques, client domains, and business problems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 0-3 years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree in quantitative fields such as Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Math, Engineering.
- Previous experience working with relational databases and developing advanced SQL queries is a must.
- Exposure to Agentic AI concepts or hands-on experience with AI agents, multi-step AI workflows, tool/function calling, retrieval-augmented generation, or workflow orchestration frameworks.
- Generative AI experience, including prompt engineering, LLM-enabled analysis, model evaluation basics, responsible AI practices, and practical implementation of AI-enabled analytical solutions.
- Python experience for data analysis, machine learning, automation, statistical analysis, notebook-based experimentation, and repeatable analytical workflows.
- Foundational AI/ML background with exposure to supervised learning, unsupervised learning, model validation, feature engineering, and statistical analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt quickly in fast-changing AI environments, with passion for AI, curiosity, and a continuous learning mindset.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to break down ambiguous questions, explore data, test hypotheses, and communicate practical findings to technical or non-technical stakeholders including executives.
- Experience leveraging AI assistive tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools to accelerate coding, analytics, documentation, testing, and solution development.
- Experience working with business intelligence platforms: Tableau, Power BI, etc.
- Must be based in Chicago, IL, and flexible to work from our Chicago office as needed.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.
Preferred Requirements
- Healthcare industry experience, especially with payer, provider, clinical, claims, revenue cycle, population health, or healthcare operations data.
- AWS cloud experience, including familiarity with services such as Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Bedrock, Lambda, Glue, S3, Redshift, or related cloud-native AI/ML services.
- Snowflake experience, including data modeling, SQL optimization, secure data sharing, or analytics engineering in cloud data warehouse environments.
- Consulting background with experience working directly with clients, managing ambiguity, and delivering executive-ready recommendations.
- AWS AI or machine learning certifications, such as AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer, AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty, AWS Certified AI Practitioner, or related AWS credentials.
Compensation & Benefits
The estimated base salary range for this position is $75,000-$90,000. In addition to this base salary, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. This range is a part of a competitive, total compensation package together with our majority employer-paid benefits and incentive pay for eligible roles. Please note that this range is a guideline, and individual total compensation may vary due to numerous factors, including but not limited to experience level, certifications, and other relevant business considerations.
