Data Privacy and AI Associate

About the role

Barnes & Thornburg LLP is searching for a Data Privacy and AI Associate. The Associate will ideally have 1-3 years of relevant data privacy experience, and will work with a wide range of clients to analyze and mitigate risks related to the collection, storage, distribution and use of data.

Responsibilities

• Provide privacy counseling and guidance
• Review and draft data retention policies
• Review and draft data privacy and data processing agreements
• Develop incident response plans, incident reports, and breach notifications
• Assist with data breach response matters
• Handle artificial intelligence (AI) matters
• Stay current with state and federal privacy/AI laws and cybersecurity regulations

Requirements

• Solid academic record
• Strong legal research and writing skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong work ethic and initiative
• Active admission to the local state bar or eligibility to waive in

Qualifications

• At least one year of data privacy, data protection, and/or data security experience
• Demonstrated interest in the field, including CIPP certification
• Some experience with artificial intelligence (AI)
• Some experience with incident response and data breach matters
