Data Platform Engineer
About the role
Data Platform Engineer will join the Digital Engineering organization and provide technical support to Digital applications and services that improve the member/user experience, support client’s strategic initiatives and drive value to client. To support and participate in Digital’s Agile development and engineering processes throughout the product lifecycle (product initiation, planning, implementation, reviews, and releases) to design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure database solutions that enable efficient data management, ensure high availability, and support the organization's business and operational needs. Focus will be on optimizing databases’ performance, capacity, and reliability while aligning with industry standards and best practices to safeguard data integrity and accessibility. Work under minimal supervision and use complete understanding of business needs and objectives to support projects that have impact on the achievement of operational goals. Location: Vienna, VA (hybrid) with flexibility to work from Pensacola, FL, Winchester, VA, or San Diego, CA. Duration: Initial 6-month contract with possible extensions.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage advanced cloud database architectures, ensuring scalability and reliability
- Work with Agile development teams leveraging Liquibase to manage database scheme changes
- Monitor and optimize database performance and capacity planning
- Develop and manage backup policies, data retention policies and disaster recovery plans
