About the role
The Expert Data Modeler for GEOINT Standards supports the Lead Data Modeler in providing GEOINT standards Data Modeling in UML, OWL, SKOS, GML, JSON, and XML for existing and future GEOINT Standards to ensure current and updated standards content meet capability delivery dates for NGA & NSG initiatives and solution providers.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on development of GEOINT Standards with the objective of facilitating compliance and interoperability through integration of NSG & ASG requirements while reducing technical and schedule risk associated with Data, Metadata, and Ontology standards.
- Ensure current and future GEOINT standards are evolving towards greater use of ontologies and semantic structures.
- Develop capability-based standards profiles to enable search, discovery, access, retrieval, integrated intelligence, and advanced analytics, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
- Extensive communication and collaboration with NGA offices and technical personnel regarding their needs for standards, and in matters of how standards are developed and used in GEOINT practice.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of standards for metadata and the application of these standards to data management and data analysis.
- Built logical data models for GEOINT data used by NGA for imagery and geospatial data production and/or analysis.
- Prepares and presents technical reports on data modeling.
- Prepares and presents technical briefings on standards for the lead modeler, and for Government staff.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with the types of data employed in GEOINT production and analysis.
- Familiarity with the development and use of ontologies for geospatial data production and analysis.
- Familiar with the application of Artificial Intelligence tools and methods to data science/data analysis.
Skills and Tasks
- Able to develop & use exceptionally complex concepts & processes that span multiple organizations and disciplines.
- Performs multiple tasks at the expert level.
- Led Senior/Mid-level personnel.
- Evaluates & recommends new technology & processes based upon cost, risk, mission.
Education
- Master’s degree plus 5 years' experience,
- or Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years’ experience,
- or Associates degree plus 12 years’ experience,
- or Minimum of 15 years’ experience in a related field.
Certifications and Specialized Training
- Desired: Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP).
- Training in the use of XML, rdf, JSON or similar languages for data modeling.
- Familiarity with an architecture development environment such as CAMEO or SPARX-EA.

Target Salary Range: $129,000 - $231,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, clearance, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
