Data Migration Engineer Contractor

The services

You will provide the Deloitte project team:

• Design, develop, and optimize database systems to support data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
• Create and maintain ETL processes to integrate new systems with existing data warehouse structures.
• Optimize database performance by refining system functionality and ensuring efficient data retrieval.
• Implement and enforce database security measures to protect data integrity and confidentiality.
• Perform regular data validation and quality checks to ensure database accuracy and reliability.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end database migration projects including DB2 z/OS/VSAM to DB2 LUW, DB2 to cloud-hosted databases (e.g., Db2 on Cloud, Db2 Warehouse), and cross-platform migrations.
• Assess source database environments, catalog dependencies, and develop comprehensive migration plans with risk mitigation strategies.
• Execute schema conversion, data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) AWS glue or any equivalent tools.
• Validate data integrity, application compatibility, and performance benchmarks pre- and post-migration.
• Schedule and monitor jobs using control-M.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on experience administering IBM DB2 databases in enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise in DB2 for z/OS (including utilities such as REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, RECOVER, LOAD, and UNLOAD).
• Experience with automation and scripting using Python, Shell/Bash for DB2 operations.
• Demonstrated experience with DB2 LUW administration on Linux and/or AIX platforms.
• Proven track record of leading successful large-scale DB2/VSAM migration or upgrade projects.
• Proficiency in SQL tuning, EXPLAIN analysis, access path optimization, and performance diagnostics.
• Experience with DB2 high availability and disaster recovery solutions (HADR).
• Working knowledge of JCL, REXX, and TSO/ISPF in mainframe environments.
• Familiarity with IBM Data Studio or any IBM Db2 Administration Tool.

Pay

The expected pay range for this contract assignment is $100- $110 per hour. The exact pay rate will vary based on skills, experience, and location and will be determined by the third-party whose employees provide services to Deloitte.
