Data / Information Architect
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Data/Information Architect to provide data architecture for Ford Motor Company's Industrial Systems (IS) Data Strategy. As a Data/Information Architect, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing a robust and scalable data strategy based on data-centric principles. You will guide the implementation of the IS data Platform, collaborate with stakeholders and product teams to define data domains, onboard source systems, create data models, ensure data quality, map source to domain, assist in creating contracts, and provide architectural guidance. You will also maintain changes to the Enterprise Data Model (EDM) and IS Conceptual Data Model. Based in Dearborn, MI, this is a hybrid position with a required four-day onsite presence each week. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
- Provide consultation and data-strategy support for IS initiatives.
- Run EA IS Data Strategy Office Hours and provide guidance on data challenges.
- Partner closely with the EDP team—understand their roadmap and share relevant updates with IS EA architects.
- Design and develop information/data models (enterprise, conceptual, logical, and physical) for Industrial Systems; manage and maintain models in a Power Designer repository.
- Map applications to the conceptual data model, business processes, and business capabilities.
- Support product-team intake: translate use cases into data requirements and provide expert architecture guidance and designs.
- Lead discovery, onboarding, and analysis of sources into Industrial Systems Data Platform (ISDP); build deep understanding of the data landscape and enable integration of diverse sources into ISDP.
- Lead conceptual discussions to understand the data landscape; identify and evaluate candidate data sources; maintain data models and data dictionaries for identified source systems; and develop canonical domain models.
- Profile source-system data; define data-quality requirements, dimensions, and metrics; and guide monitoring, measurement, reporting, and issue remediation.
- Establish data-architecture principles, standards, best practices, and guidelines for the data platform (catalog, lineage, observability, security, interoperability).
- Perform proof-of-concepts and guide product teams in designing and developing solutions using GCP data-engineering technologies and tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Programming or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- 8+ years overall IT experience.
- 5+ years of Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or advanced Database Design/Modeling experience in designing or implementing OLTP/RDBMS databases, Data Warehouse, Data Marts.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience creating data models using data modeling tools (e.g., Power Designer).
- 2+ years of experience in GCP technologies including Big Query, Alloy DB, PostgreSQL, Cloud Run, Mongo DB, Data Flow. Similar cloud experience may be acceptable.
- Understanding and knowledge of AI capabilities and modeling semantic layer for a data platform.
Additional Skills
- Knowledge of Master Data Management concepts and tools.
- Functional and Architecture Experience with one or more PLM platforms (e.g., Siemens’ Teamcenter, Dassault’s 3D Experience).
- Knowledge of TOGAF, DAMA Architecture Framework and Standards.
- Ability to define data architecture principles, guidelines and standards.

- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems or similar field.
- Strong collaboration, people skills, and communication expertise.
- Experience influencing/guiding product teams in data analytics.
- Experience in defining and implementing data quality initiatives.
- Expertise in interoperability standards and methods.
- Outstanding and proven leadership skills in working with senior-level management helping in decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong ability to self-manage and develop work plans that employ appropriate methods to resolve ambiguity and build consensus for an architectural solution.

Pay
This position is a salary grade 7 or 8 and ranges from $86,600 to $166,200. Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility, and competitive market value.
