About the Role

The Data Governance Lead will collaborate closely with our data team to manage and enhance the quality and value of our data assets. This role involves defining and implementing data governance policies, standards, and best practices while ensuring data is legal, well-organized, secure, accessible, and valuable. You will monitor and report on the performance and compliance of our data governance program, lead meetings, communicate expectations, and engage with data stewards and owners across the organization.

We seek a highly energetic and collaborative individual to support our data and analytics team in introducing and leveraging data governance capabilities, particularly in the medical device space.

Responsibilities

  • Define and operate data governance policies supporting multiple data domains.
  • Implement the data governance program vision using Microsoft Purview, Databricks Unity Catalog, and Profisee, enforcing policies and promoting best practices.
  • Develop and communicate Data Governance policies to stakeholders, providing training and guidance in collaboration with the Learning and Development (L&D) team.
  • Provide oversight and support for Asset Management to drive awareness and decisions on data standards and policies.
  • Understand various data storage solutions, including ETL technologies built on Databricks Lakehouse architecture in Microsoft Azure, collaborating with the Data Engineering team as needed.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and business units to address analytical needs while ensuring data quality and consistency.
  • Oversee processes, policies, and standards for data management, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness and maturity of the data governance program, reporting on key performance indicators and metrics.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement and innovation in data governance.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data governance, data quality, data management, or a similar role.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, principles, and methodologies.
  • Experience with data governance tools such as data catalogs, data dictionaries, data lineage, data quality, and data security.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive change across the organization.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve data issues and risks.
  • A passion for data and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced, and results-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with project management and scrum tools in an Agile environment, particularly within the Microsoft Azure stack (e.g., Azure DevOps).
  • Experience with Unity Catalog, Microsoft Purview, and/or Profisee.
  • Experience working with offshore contractor resources.
  • Experience presenting data to C-level stakeholders.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $110,000—$160,000 USD, commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications. This range may be adjusted based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level.
