Responsibilities
- Retrieve and analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
- Create visualizations and interactive graphics to accompany databases.
- Verify the accuracy and integrity of data used in reporting.
- Stay up to date with the latest data analysis tools and techniques.
- Use AI tools and techniques to enhance data analysis and visualization.
- Present data, conclusions, and written stories in a clear and compelling manner.
- Contribute to the community’s greater good through impactful journalism.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in journalism, data science or statistics or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least three years of newsroom experience.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Python or R.
- Expertise with AI tools and proven scrapping experience and results.
- Strong understanding of data visualization techniques.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong reporting skills, with the ability to gather information from people and public records.
- Strong writing skills, along with a demonstrated ability to distill complex matters.
- Able to work cooperatively, meet deadlines and shift gears for multiple tasks.
